This month we celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’ however most of us would probably agree that a day just isn’t quite enough. The saying, “a woman’s job is never done” rings truth when it comes to the home. Regardless of her career or income, gender roles are still very much evident when it comes to household chores. According to a study, women do more chores around the house then their male partners. The responsibility of cooking, childcare and most housework often falls on the woman’s shoulder.
If you are a single mother like myself that’s raising two children, you can probably appreciate my hectic schedule. Years of learning to balance homelife while juggling a career has made me more efficient and organized; still I am very grateful to my family and friends for their continued support. Now that my children are grown, housework is distributed and it gives me great pleasure to know that my children are willing to help around the house, allowing me more time to focus on my clients.
I will have to admit that being a single mother with a career has been a challenging journey but one that has made me resilient and adaptable. Now that my children are helping around the house, I am able to focus my attention on helping clients find their dream home. Although it might of gotten easier, I still believe that a woman’s job is never done but, if you are passionate about what you are doing than all the hard work is always worth it.
